Don't go chasing car crashes [Mission]

Janus was yawning to herself. She still had light bruising from her previous week but most of it was simply black and blue. It no longer hurt to do everything which meant her divination was just itching to make her life absolutely miserable again. The woman wandered along the road heading back down off the hill into the city, dressed in her coat and a shit bearing the legend. "Don't look down."

It was a quaint afternoon, if it wasn't for her divination screaming and picking up warnings of some kind of monstrous gloom and dispair that could only be a masked monster. She looked around but she couldn't see anything and it was on the outside of her divination anyway so she may have gotten likely and simply avoided it.

Janus resumed her stroll as she made sure to keep her knees slightly bent as she kept moving downhill.  A car passed and the man inside was listening to some obnoxious political statement radio station as Janus decided she had heard enough of that and pulled her phone out of her coat to change the music.   Which was much better the moment that it began blaring something that she couldn't understand in Spanish over her headphones.

 She liked other languages, being born speaking Italian, learning Japanese and English and listening to music in Korean, Spanish, German, and a few others.  It was just who Janus was.  The young woman felt much better hearing the soothing sounds of loud bass, and a guitar shredding hard.

The diviner wasn't paying full attention to the hairs on the back of her neck until it was nearing the too late point. Her divination screamed a warning as a car killed her in a future and Janus used her newfound speed to bolt across the pavement out of the way of the vehicle as it came up the mountain at a leasiruly pace. She looked confused until a second later, a portal of some kind opened up and the fist of some kind of masked monster that looked more like a gorilla than anything slammed down on the front of the car's hood.

The car immediately flipped and missed Janus by quite the distance but came sliding upside down and spinning into a tree, making the rooted giant uproot and lean as she held up a hand. It took the woman a moment to process, but there were screams coming from the car, and now the masked monster was heading out of the portal with more of it's body.

The diviner had seconds to make a choice, the people in the car or right for the monster, in case it decided to attempt to finish the job. Unfortunately the less tactical decision was the one Janus cared about, after all she was a hero. The young woman made it to the car in less than two seconds, literally and ripped the door off it's hinges. She looked in as she noticed the hollow coming forward towards it.

Luckily for Janus, her weapon didn't require vision, she just had to know what she was programming the projection to do, and another Janus rushed out of her back, right up the monster and slashing at it as Janus grabbed one of the injured passengers and moved them to safety. The masked monster took the new form at its face value but managed to get an arm up to deflect the attack before the projection vanished.

Janus moved three football fields away in a second and then bolted back to the car to grab the next vicitim as the masked monster closed in. It didn't seem fast but the massive arms it had surely made up for it in brute force as it got to the tree and tossed it away like a stick, after tearing it from the ground. The diviner made a comment about how unfair trans-dimensional beings were and grabbed another member of the injured family as the Janus with the bow appeared and ran to the side, away from the car and took a pot shot at the monster.

Janus, was simply buying time, she knew it was more important to save the people than to beat the monster to death, if that could even be done for lack of better terms as she ran at full speed away from the monster, supporting the body of the injured until they were completely out of the way. The diviner called an ambulance and tossed her phone with the family before rushing back to the monster.

Janus learned something during the exchange of blows between a numerous amount of other Janus, and the monster. The ability to vanish back into the Ether to another dimension, was really really overpowered. The monster managed to get two lucky shots off during their exchange and not even her immense speed for all it was worth could do anything about it. One had left her with another bruise in her lower abdomen and the other had hit her good leg and would most likely swell pretty good if she didn't get it on ice soon.

The monster then realized, with no prey easily accessible, it was a waste to stick around and portaled back to wherever the blasted thing had come from and Janus ended up spending yet another god dammed day in a bathtub full of ice and water to stave off swelling and brusing. She wondered if there were supernatural healers, cause this was getting completely ridiculous.
