Tortoise Training

Roi once again came back inside of the danger room. It was becoming like a second home to him. This time he was going for a defensive training utilizing the tortoise defensive movements. It was a set of defense moves he hadn't fully learned yet but at the moment he knew enough to defend himself from basic attacks and his natural defense still needed some work too so this worked out for him. Roi first summoned a small tree to fight against him as he defended himself from the blows of it's thick and sturdy branches as best as he could.

Roi staid rooted to his spot using his arm's and body to block as many blows as possible. Roi moved his body but did not move from that spot. Instead most of his defense was offense followed by enduring blows. Ro punched away some attacks that weren't as easy to block and moved his arms, shoulders and hands to protect other parts of his body and alloe the little tree to hit that instead. This went on for another ten or twenty minutes until Roi waved his hand to halt the tree's attacks and took a break to think about and absorb his experience.

Roi felt he was only a little ways away from being able to move and still use the tortoise movements to defend himself on the go. Against one enemy at least. So he once again let the tree start a fight with him as he focused on blocking half the strikes with hand, arm, and shoulder and dodging most of the rest. Every once in a while he still received a blow against his stomach or back but after over an hour more of training stationary he could block and minimize pretty much every attack the tree threw. After he achieved that he rested his aching body especially the parts he used to block and take the damage of the blows.

After allowing himself to rest Roi got up ready to train more but this time he started moving around and made sure the tree moved at the same speed as him. Roi then began trying to defend on the move like he did while stationary. However this was not nearly as simple. While on the move he had to keep balance and adjust himself constantly accounting for his body moving disturbing his arms positioning and sturdiness, and on top of that he still had to worry about the attacks of the opponent, where they were coming from, and how they were attacking. Roi got beat up immediately.

After healing his bruises and nursing a headache Roi looked ruefully over towards the fighting tree he'd summoned as it stood there looking innocent and acting cute. Hmph. He couldn't blame it as it was only fulfilling it's purpose but he needed to figure out how to defend on the move and quickly! He didn't want to spend too long in the training session getting completely beat up. After nursing his injuries and pride long enough Roi jumped back into the fight. He spent a bit more time at the beginning actively dodging at first to get in pace for the fight before he started trying to block blows again.

When Roi didn't immediately start getting his butt kicked again he smiled as he nodded to himself. As expected part of the problem was catching up to the flow of the battle while trying to defend himself. When doing intense activities alike fighting....or trying not to dire, multi-tasking can be a very difficult prospect but to defend in the way he wanted he needed to pay attention to several different things at once and still be able to follow the flow of battle. This was easier said then done however he had no choice but to give it his all. Roi started with practicing getting into the flow of battle immediately first. Getting beat quite a few times as he got used to doing so.

Soon Roi got the hang of immediately jumping in to the flow of battle then he began training his tortoise defense on the move again. The results were much better this time as he was able to block and minimize the majority of the tree's attacks. This made Roi very happy as he ran all across the danger room blocking and trading blows with the little fighting tree. His wild side seemed to come out and he howled in enjoyment as he enjoyed to brutality of one fist versus another fist....uh....branch! Roi fought on with the little tree until he could block and minimize pretty much all it's attacks.

Now that he had finally succeeded with that it was time to seriously kick the training up another notch. Roi summoned another small fighting tree and stopped moving. Now that he'd be facing two opponents he shouldn't keep jumping all over the place like a monkey while taking both of their blows. He wasn't trying to get beat up again so easily! So Roi motioned them to start then he had to defend himself from the two trees coming at him from two completely different directions. He nearly got knocked on his butt immediately. But just barely dodged the blow. Before he could even think of blocking the next he winded up having to dodge again and again as the attacks from sifferent directions spun him dizzily.

Roi rolled out from between the two and signaled them to stop. This was not going as he'd hoped. He had to keep readjusting and figuring out how to make this work properly. Well perhaps this is what it meant to have an incomplete defensive technique.After taking five and replenishing his energy Roi ran back into the fight. He'd thought about it carefully and had a good idea why he couldn't do anything but dodge. He needed to move more standing still wouldn't work with attacks from two directions. But there were only two and moving all over the place wouldn't help either. After careful consideration though he'd figured out how to fix his problem with minimum movement.

With determination and a measured step Roi blocked the first fist aware of the second already coming behind him, but he moved on leg and pivoted the upper half of his body defending from it as he used his other arm to defend against another attack from the other direction before pivoting bact to the front and forcefully knocking the tree back and pivoting the opposite direction of the first pivot as the secon tree tried to move toward his side and attack in a blind spot, and Roi jut barely managed to block that too and also kock this tree back so with a series of pivoting steps, knock backs and precise blocks Roi began managing to defend against two opponents while stationary.

Roi had the basics now it was time to run with it. Literally! Roi started running and defending against the two trees as they ran after him. It was easier to do then when standing still he realized. He needed to move often to keep up with both of their attacks anyway so doing this on the move was so much simpler and his pivots became more like sudden spins at different degrees. one hundred and eighty, then three hundred and sixty, and even a spare ninety here and there. He was once again having the time of his life and collecting bumps, scrapes, and bruises as he fought passionately.

Roi was ready to throw caution to the wind and give into the fight in earnest. As more time passed he added more and more small tree fighters. Soon he was running through the danger room fighting ten small tree's trading blows and collecting bruises. He was laughing with exhilaration. This was it! This is what he needed! He felt alive and strong and loved....okay and maybe a little masochistic, but the point was he was where he needed to be. And this is what he needed to do. Roi happily brawled like that for the entire week until finally passing out in the danger room. Beaten to hell, but with a goofy smile on his face.
