Mission with Friends? [Private, Janus]

Mission 1:

Kosuke had woken up to start his day, stretching with a yawn and a rather satisfying back pop. He was actually feeling pretty good these days with only minor symptoms of his illness showing. So, to commemorate another day of feeling mostly healthy, he would go for a walk. Getting his clothes put on with a grey hoodie and a blue jacket over that, he would also slip on a pair of jeans and white running shoes. Stepping out his door, he would begin jogging lightly around the block, into the city, around the buildings and such, just really out enjoying himself for the day.

Janus, was popping coffee beans into her mouth from a small bag of the things that was in one of her jacket pockets. She stood upright and was listening to music that was somewhere between Italian scr-emo and hair metal as she did so. Her white jacket moved with her steps and it looked less hungry than usual. Her hair had less knots than most days and she wore a shit bearing the legend "Oh god, it's her, RUN!"

It was normal for the diviner to be as weird as humanly possible. After all she had entire conversations before they happened, ran randomly into danger that didn't concern her, and thought of her coat like a pet. Unlike the rest of the world, Janus had worked the graveyard at her place and was now enjoying a walk following pushing all of her work off on Yuki for the day. Somewhere, her divination pinged the dreaded feeling of gloom and dispair that usually came with masked monsters, and she looked around but saw nothing out of the ordinary except a young man jogging. Though, Janus just knew nothing was ever that simple, and it usually ended with gloom and doom. The diviner made a disgusted face as she waited for the masked monster to appear, and watched the young man jog.

She was pretty sure everything was going to go bad in just a moment, but she started making bets with herself about how it was all destined to crash around her.

Kosuke was lost in his own world jogging and loving the feeling of not being bedridden. It was then that he felt a more powerful spiritual pressure than normal, looking over and seeing a woman also out walking. She looked to be listening to music, so he decided to not be rude and interrupt her, but he could tell that she had a strong connection to the spiritual side of things. He also knew that when two people with a high connection to the spirits were near, it attracted those monstrosities to come and attack, so he decided to keep on jogging to see if he could avoid that scenario.

Janus must have looked like an idiot as her Divination went off like a cannon ball and she stopped dead in her tracks as a tongue came flying a few inches from her face.  She stared at it with wide eyes as it vanished from her vision in an instant and she started scrambling in any direction as the masked frog landed where she had been standing, sending the Diviner hurtling forward and slamming into the ground.  

"The tongue probably would have hurt less." The diviner stated as she realized it.  The problem with divination was, once you started on a path because of a choice, you couldn't change it.  By avoiding the tongue, she had left herself open to getting bounced around like a child.  She scrambled as she gripped her arm and the hollow lashed out again with it's belly and croaked.  The wave of air was enough to knock Janus around again, but at least it go her further away from the blasted thin-a second later the Diviner rolled up into a ball as the tongue whipped towards her midsection and grabbed her.  "Wrong on so many levels." She stated as the hollow slammed the tongue down with her curled inside it as she grunted in pain.

Kosuke was alarmed suddenly as the hollow appeared and attacked the other person. It was odd as they must have sensed its presence and been confused by it as they seemed to dodge it right before it landed, which led to them being bounced around and continually attacked. Kosuke lunged into action, using blur to get to them quickly and then delivering a punch to the side of the beast. "Don't worry, I got ya!" If the beast dropped the woman, Kosuke would move to catch her before placing her on the ground gently. If it did not, he would continue punching it until it did. Simple.

Janus realized it was probably bad that something hit the masked frog thing the moment it happened. It was the jogging kid, which was more to the point that the moment he started punch, the tongue started flailing with Janus in it. As the thing hammered her into the ground twice before finally letting her go, she realized that she needed to stop going out, it was severely shortening her life span. Mostly by way of extreme violence and somewhat obnoxious monsters doing dumb stuff.

Janus didn't get up for the first few seconds, instead she just sent another version of herself, after the tongue. She was vindictive, so sue her. The other version of Janus burst out of her body and rushed to the tongue, only to be the one that looked like a punk rock chick and did nothing more than make the tongue annoyed and the masked monster more antagonized, though the beating it was getting from the kid was probably much more prominent than the diviner's stupidity.

Growling slightly he would cease his barrage on the beast as he saw the woman get slammed to the ground. He had both failed and succeeded at the same time. He saw her create her clone that seemed to annoy the beast as it attacked the tongue, so Kosuke decided to rush in again himself, only to be struck by the tongue himself as he started a coughing fit before he could hit the beast. The tongue struck him and sent him flying back as he coughed out a weak, "Full... counter..." sending the power of the strike right back to the beast.

Janus slowly got up as the young man yelled something like someone out of Dragonball and watched the physical force recoil into the frog-monster-thing. It topped and slammed down as Janus tried to use the momentary reprieve to catch her breath and look for something from one of her divinations that could help. She found nothing directly helpful and decided that the better part of valor was to be introduced.

So, the Diviner started limping away while another future version of herself, this time a black robed Janus with a sword went towards the frog thing and slashed at it. Though she wasn't doing much damage, the frog seemed very convinced at the distracting divinations and Janus hoped the young man, who had actually done damage unlike her, would continue pummeling the dam thing, or break its mask so it would run away.

Kosuke got up and continued coughing up copious amounts of blood, watching helplessly as the woman attacked the beast with some form of astral projection. When he finally got the fit under control he would wipe the blood from his mouth and get back into the fight, rushing forwards and delivering another blow to the side of the beast. His attacks weren't doing much, but him combined with the astral projection seemed to be strong enough to actually damage the thing, eventually cracking the white mask on its face, causing it to scream in pain.

"We suck at this." The diviner pointed out mostly to herself as she sent another projection of the future towards the hollow, this time the odd version of herself with a mask and a giant elongated claw, swinging at the hollows mask, as it reared back to scream in pain.  While the damage wasn't large, it managed to crack the remainder of the mask.   The hollow beginning to dissipate as Janus sank down again in pain.  She looked at the other human and realized he was coughing up blood.  That, seemed, kind of bad.

The diviner finally stood up and limped towards the young man.  "Hey, you dead?" She asked, mainly because she wasn't too sure what was what anymore.  That and her mind was too busy racing to think logically.   "Thanks for the help." Janus grunted out after.

Kosuke finished coughing up blood as it seemed they had damaged the beast enough that it dissipated into the air. He would wipe his face once more, it seemed these things brought out the worst in his sickness. As the woman approached he would speak to her, his voice hoarse from the constant coughing, "Not yet, but I'm getting there, heh. And its no problem, I'm always happy to help. Name's Kosuke, good to meet you!" He spoke slowly, still catching his breath from the rather difficult battle, more than he had to face thus far in his life but he knew more was undoubtedly coming.

Janus took stock, moving her coat down a bit, bruised side, shoulder, still had stitches in her leg, luckily they hadn't torn. She looked like she had been in one too many street fights with nothing to show for it. "Janus." She stated pointedly as she grunted a bit in pain touching her shoulder. She hiked her coat back over it and grunted again, obviously unhappy with the way that had turned out before scratching the back of her neck.

The lucky part about pain, which may have lead Janus to masochism if she didn't you know, hate pain was that at least her divination wasn't blaring futures in her mind. She decided that they were out of trouble for the immediate moment and she simply caught her breath. "Glad to know you, doesn't feel like we got any more coming in the foreseeable future."

Kosuke would nod, Janus, good to know another enhanced human in the area. She seemed to be in some pain, but he had no way of helping so he kept it to himself. She said she didn't feel anymore coming, so perhaps she was a better senser than he was, though he also didn't feel anything else, so maybe not? He didn't really know. Regardless, he had to thank her for helping him as well so he would in the most awkward way possible, "Hey, thanks for your help as well..."
