Becoming Myself [Private]

Technique:

Kosuke woke from what could be considered to be a slumber if he were still alive, now its mostly just floating in a void of nothingness. He was awake now regardless and was floating above the city. Today, he had decided to get more used to his new form and the abilities that came alongside it. Looking around, he decided he was going to try to fly. He was skeptical of it, but decided that it was worth a shot, since he didn't really know what this form was capable of, or not.

But before he could jump, he had to accomplish one incredibly difficult task. He had to build up the courage to jump. While normally, he would rationalize that he was already dead, and as such shouldn't fear death any further. Today was not that day, as he glanced down. He had already tested to see if he had wings, as he appeared to be some form of Owl monster. But, he did not, unfortunately. No, he just had wide arms with feather-like fingers. It was odd, but really, nothing should surprise him anymore. Letting out a sigh, he tried to come up with another method of psyching himself up.

Kosuke looked down the ledge again, it was obvious that he wasn't able to muster up courage by thinking rationally, so he would have to do something crazy, something insane to draw out that primal feeling to make him jump potentially to his death at the price of learning if he could fly or not. He saw that other hollow fly, the one that had attacked him... But it did have wings... He didn't know what he was thinking, but he just had to be sure, he had to know if he could do it or not. For the sake of science!

Deciding to take the more simplistic and crude approach, he would just rush off the side of the building. He would flap his wide arms, but it would seem they were useless for flight as he began to fall. As he fell, he had flashbacks of falling to his death. The sound of that beast laughing and eating his newly dead body. It was horrifying, he couldn't stop reliving that moment though, until he actually hit the ground with a loud slam that the people nearby mistook as an earthquake.

When he hit the ground, he found that it actually broke his legs and left what looked like ribs sticking through his sternum. It was kinda scary, but at the same time he felt no pain. That must be one of the bonuses of being dead... Regardless, he stood, or attempted to. He fell again, his legs were broken and standing was pretty much impossible for him. But, he could feel something interesting happening with his Reiatsu, it felt warm. It was interesting as that was the first actual feeling he had experienced since he got transformed into this monster.

Suddenly, he felt his legs snap back into their proper positions, his ribs popping back into place. It was clear that he had learned a new ability after all, but this one had more to do with healing than anything else. It would no doubt come in handy in the future, but he knew that he would need other abilities in the future to make a difference in not only his own survivability, but he could make a difference in the world. He wondered what other sorts of abilities he could use, well, he had all the time in the world to figure it out.
