No way out... [mission]

Janus had a bit of confidence because of the past few encounters of the inter-dimensional kind.  She felt like she was actually making progress which was a good thing.  It was also the point that she should have completely thought about that the moment she started gaining confidence.  If the Diviner wasn't so focused on the future she would have looked backwards and saw how out of place everything had been and how easily someone had been manipulating her.  Which was the fault of how she thought more than her inability to think.  That or her generic insanity.

Janus was jogging, getting a bit of the execise in and learning how to control the new movements of her body. Since she had started developing more power, for lack of a better term, she had started moving differently and was significantly stronger than she used to be. It was an odd sensation, like her skin didn't fit perfectly or something. The diviner couldn't come up with a good metaphor so she didn't try again. Her cloak bellowed behind her as she moved and she tried path walking while she was running, there was no one around so it made for good practice for herself. Her divination had other uses, they just weren't things that could be done in the heat of battle. Mainly because they required focus, and more often than not, no one around to make decisions and ruin it for Janus.

Speaking of battle, as she was path walking, Janus saw a single future with combat in it, she tried to focus and hold on to it. The problem with doing so, immediately made her sorry she did. Janus couldn't dodge whatever was happening in the next few seconds, but luckily, she could brace for it. Sure enough as she thought about it and brought her arms up, a leg slammed into the top of her arms and she skid backwards a good couple of feet. There was a cloaked person in front of her, and to her surprise, though she saw combat in the future there was quite a few oddities to it.

To test her theory, Janus found a future where another version of her rushed out of her body and attacked the cloaked person, when she quickly turned to see the other cloaked individual simply watching. The new arrival female, judging by the "bone" structure around the pectoral area.

The man who had beaten Janus near death a few weeks before pulled his hood back from in front of the diviner and he smiled.  "You know when we started this you thought I was a Charleton, selling snake oil to random humans who don't even begin to understand reality.  Ohh right, excuse me, realiTIES." The man said accenting the end of the word as he chuckled to himself.  He must have thought it was funny.  Janus didn't because she was too busy looking at futures for some way to deal with the man.

The man, who must have been told, or known, looked at the other cloaked figure. "She must be trying to beat me, seeing anything interesting cupcake?" He asked Janus as he looked back at her.  She had, and it was simply that she wasn't a threat no matter what she tried to do to the man.

The man rushed at Janus again and it took every ounce of her focus to dodge, glance and avoid extreme harm each time. She even sent version of herself, projections to try and hurt him but each time they tried to leave her body, the man simply beat them down. Janus wondered how he was doing it, he had far more strength, speed, stamina and power than she had and he didn't seem to have any powers. She could see the future and all it showed her was the beating she was taking in thousands of different variations.

The man continued beating on Janus until she was bruised and bleeding on the ground again. As if each time she got something good like feeling strong, she had to be bashed into the ground just to make sure she understood that she was a little fish in a big pond. No, it was more than that and Janus couldn't figure out what it was as she covered her body in a fetal position as the man kicked at her side again.

The diviner couldn't hear over trying to make it stop, she had been screaming and crying but she couldn't have told you for how long. Eventually the other figure snapped their fingers, the one simply watching and the man backed off. The other figured moved towards her and dropped one of the calligraphy notes that Janus had kept on finding and then rolled Janus over to take something out of her pocket. Janus phone came out and the being typed something into it as if to get some information from Janus as the man peeled Janus' trademark coat off.

The diviner tried to complain and held onto the coat with a bloody hand as the man kicked her hand into the ground and handed the coat to the cloaked being. "Sorry kiddo." He said as they left Janus on the side of the road and she slowly closed her eyes.

Janus woke up, what had to be a day or so later in extreme pain. Though she was home, she grunted and Yuki walked in and tried to walk her through what had happened. Apparently he had gotten a text from her phone with her location and he and Jacob had dragged her back to the hotel and hot springs. Her wallet and coat were gone as well as her phone, at least she was alive.
