Knowing is Not the Battle [Mission]

The Emperor of the Quincy honestly, didn't feel or look all that different than usual. Her patented white coat had been freshly fed and it wasn't complaining. Not that it could, Janus just liked to pretend it had a mind of it's own. It actually made her feel better most of the time, if only because that meant that she had someone to talk to. Janus had always been insane as a bag of cats, didn't mean she wasn't used to it. Today, she was wearing her bangles, her headphones, her coat and a shirt bearing the legend "No really, try it."

She brushed her hair back as she pulled out her phone and changed the song playing, her divination already showing her today's problems in surround sound with stereo. She wondered if anyone else had to deal with things like this. There weren't many other Quincy, but at least she had a giant castle to herself most of the time.

Janus now had a strange habit of over checking things. It was always as if she was going to see a future where she forgot something and such a basic thing would mean life or death, though the woman had no intention of anything like that happening. So, her hands rolled over her tactical belt that did in fact have six seele, ten ginto, with her others currently being in her coat pocket. She was ready for anything, and figured that was about as good as it was going to get for a generic patrol from someone like her.

Janus hovered on that thought, patrolling seemed like something she wouldn't actually be doing. If you had told her ten years ago she would be standing around doing something like this, she would probably have laughed at you. Then again Janus had always wanted to be a hero.

Janus took a breather as she looked at a specific place about three blocks from her. Well, in that direction, anyway. A white robe was about to come through, which usually meant something terrible was going to happen. Having the ability to know where your enemies were coming from, was something Janus excelled in. Reiraku, Divination, Kage, Hirenkyaku and Treno, allowed Janus to always be able to react intelligently and never get ambushed. Her problem was more how she fought, she had virtually little combat experience and her pre-Emperor days were more or less plagued with human torpedo. She had to admit, it wasn't smart, and most of the things she ran into seemed to be professional fighters.

The Diviner was at the entrance of the mouth looking portal a few seconds later. Which was a little too fast as she had to wait another twenty seconds before it was going to open. Janus was usually late, when it wasn't something she could directly divine, so it was nice to be early once. She actually thought about sitting down and staring at her phone but decided that would be a little too mean to whatever white robe was on their way to Earth. The white robed man stepped out with a very angry look and an even more bad attitude from the looks of it, and Janus' divination did nothing but ping combat and scream words of warning though she was more than willing to give the thing the benefit of the doubt.

Janus waited for the thing to step out and looked directly at the umm very large man and blinked before speaking. He was massive, having to be almost seven feet tall and towering over the Diviner. His white robes were basic but his muscles made it so they barely fit.

"Good evening. As a duly designated representative of the Earth. I order you to cease any and all supernatural activity and return forthwith to your place of origin or to the nearest convenient parallel dimension." She said with a nod like it was a normal thing to speak like that. The white robed man looked down, almost a head down at her and then tried to squish Janus.

The white robed man's hand was simply stopped by the Diviner's now donned silvery blue armor. She no longer had a face, just a simple matter of plate masking where her face should be that conformed to her entire body. She reached to her crosses and slowly pulled them apart forming the cams of her bow. "Last chance." She stated before realizing she might have made a bit of a mistake. "Don't do that!" She said as her divination pinged the transformation of the white robed thing and Janus hopped backwards.

"Shit, really?!" The diviner said as reiatsu lashed outwards and the white robed monster suddenly had a giant ball and chain connected to his right arm.

The arrancar released and Janus squinted as she put her hand in front of her face and the reiatsu began to pour out into the human world. "Seriously I tried, I always try." She stated as she fired a shot of her compound bow which just bounced off the ball and chain. The diviner rolled her eyes like she really didn't feel like it was alright. Which, to be honest it wasn't, and then simply looked over the monster.

In seconds the young woman had tried to back off and think about her options. She threw a set of two ginto. "Gritz." Janus stated as the reishi washed around the white robe and trapped him inside for the moment to give her time to weigh her options.

The white robed being smashed at the chamber a few times. Janus got a little more time than she should have because of the lack of room to attack with his elongated limb. She was busy focusing, she pulled out two more ginto and cracked them open, focusing the reishi to crown her silver armor. Her voice modulated from the armor as another Janus stepped out of her body, a wing vanishing as she sighed. She really just wanted the dam thing to go home. She thought as the monster broke apart her gritz. The Diviner pulled up a seele and vanished, appearing behind the Arrancar and slashing at his midsection.

The white robe had his hands full. Janus wasn't even trying mainly because of how the fight was going. He obviously had been caught off guard and that was when Janus actually was good in a fight. Three other forms of Janus, connected by their strings were slashing and grabbing at the white robe as the diviner did as well alongside the seele arrow she had in her hand. The arrancars reiatsu flared and she backed off before her faceless head stared unblinking and unfixed as the white robed Janus projection was destroyed by a swing from the white robed man. Her compound bow's quiver suddenly had an arrow in it and Janus fell back as her projections swarmed and she lined up a shot.

Janus waited until the ball and chain whipped out at another one of her projections of the future before she released the string of her bow and the arrow slammed into the side of the white robe and he was knocked off balance into a fury of attacks from the four remaining Janus projections. Janus Prime and her armor vanished again, this time using the skill Kage to get behind the white robed man and drawing the seele she had been using while collecting the residual reishi left from his attacks and firing it directly towards the white robe. She missed because she aimed to high to avoid damage to the city and her heroic behavior made her get hit by the moving ball and chain.

Janus was actually frowning, annoyed from inside her armor as she was thrown back and into a wall. She had one more arrow and she was running out of reishi. Which was making the fight more difficult and definitely a waste of time. She pushed the building rubble off herself as the Janus projections returned to her and she loaded another arrow from the quiver into the compound bow. The woman and her projections seemed to ficker and appear next to the white robed man, the bow drawn back and pointed at his head as the projections grabbed him. "No dice." She stated, and released the tension on the string.

Janus ran out of reishi a few seconds later, her crown and wings vanishing as her armor reverted, slowly into her patented hungry coat.  She felt tired, more than usual as she searched futures for anything else that could show up and do bad things to good people.  She was lucky, not finding anything and she put her bow away with a flick of her wrists.  The Emperor would continue her journey to defend the Earth and all it stood for, because being attacked by monsters wasn't something that the Earth should have to stand for.

It took Janus a bit to recover all the reishi she needed to be able to keep up with the usual bouts of massive enemies.  She was more or less good after a few days, the rest of the time she would just shoot down masked monsters that showed up here and there.  It was slightly mind numbing but she could get it done.  The Emperor was once again in her armor that doubled as a great coat and she was thinking about all the things that had happened to her as she sat on the cliff near her hotel and springs looking out over the city center.

The Diviner reached back into her coat and pulled out a small cookie in a package that she had gotten from the corner store. It wasn't sweet, she didn't like entirely sweet things, so her cookie was an apricot oatmeal cookie. She took a bite of it and relaxed as she leaned back and looked up at the sky. Janus didn't really need to look at things to see them, she just had to make the decision to. Then she could change her mind, divination worked wonders when it wasn't trying to mash her psyche into a vice grip. Though it was unique, it's uses were limited, and they didn't stop her from getting beat to hell.

The diviner sat up when her divination pinged the arrival of another creature from another dimension. She started to wonder why people from other worlds were so hell bent on using Earth to do things. Couldn't they get whatever they needed or fight whoever in their own worlds. Just seemed a little much to actively have to change dimensions to do anything at all. Did they just sit around when nothing was going on? She decided that was going to lead her down a rabbit hole of bad questions as she yawned. She was searching the futures for where the portal was going to open but didn't have enough range or she crossed paths with too many others to get her divination to sit right.

The diviner pushed herself up and looked down the cliff before simply keeping her body straight and falling off of the cliff, running full blast down the cliff like it was the most normal thing in the world. She hoped no one saw it as she got closer to the ground before creating a glide of reishi under her feet and vanishing before appearing in the park walking straight along like she hadn't done anything, hands in her pockets and cookie in her mouth. She reached up to grab the cookie and then shove the rest in her mouth as she looked around and pulled up reishi threads to look for something out of the ordinary.

She found a single thread that was a little out of place. Another white robe was somewhere doing terrible things as the thread entwined with a few others until they changed color to souls. She sighed to herself and realized that people really didn't know when to just leave it alone. It was odd because she hadn't seen a future with combat which meant she was going to pass a lot of people on her way to dealing with the problem. Then again, maybe she could just talk them into leaving, that would be nice too.

The diviner got up and started bolting, it was her normal strategy when something went wrong. Humanity was hers to protect and the Earth and everyone on it were under her protection. These things wanted to invade from somewhere else with evil intentions, they could just go straight back to wherever they came from. It did make Janus wonder though, what happened to the monsters and things she dealt with. She wasn't entirely sure how all this worked aside from HEY there's another dimension. Which was probably the most apt description of what she had been working with. Janus was more or less used to trying to find things out in off-brand manners. Like her divination, she learned in a unique way, and a lot of times she didn't learn. So, while she was doomed to repeat mistakes, she also was very lucky.

The diviner wandered up to the white robed broken mask monster. Though it was standing over the body of a human. Which basically gave it no leeway as far as Janus was concerned. "We're skipping the part where I tell you to go away, Ima kill you now." She said to the man who rushed at her. He vanished and appeared in front of her carrying no momentum which allowed her to shield herself in glowing blue runes along her skin. The man's sword simply glanced off and he actually took the time to look at it. Janus was pretty sure that one had confused him.

For anyone who could even see spiritual beings, the fight would have been confusing looking from the outside looking in. For each second there would have simply been another clash of power somewhere that wasn't where the two were actually fighting. An arrow here, and a bala there, coupled with high speed movement at roughly mock two was simply a giant set of explosions and strikes that were too fast to see. It was all dangerous to those exposed but as the Diviner had mentioned, the broken mask had already dealt with the humans in their way. A second later, Janus reappeared and thew two clashed against one another until she was slammed into the ground.

Janus had her twin bows out and slowly pushed herself out of the rubble from the crater the broken mask had shoved her in. Another half-losing fight cause she didn't just go into angel form and blow the stupid thing up with her army. That was the problem, Janus was too reliant on certain abilities so she needed combat practice with others. She needed options, more things that could be used in an infinite loop of changing futures. So she decided to stick with the twin bows and Blut for the time being. She stood up and scratched her head before they both vanished and clashed again.

Explosions of energy gave off ribbons of light as Janus and the white robe vanished and struck vanished and shot another volley of red energy at the Diviner. She hadn't dodged them all, in fact she was covered in welts and bruises even through Blut. Though nothing had cracked the skin. She wiped off her face, not wearing her armor because she hadn't felt as though she needed it as she shifted her focus. She was down tubes, only having half left, the problem with being a Quincy was that short of popping a bait there was never enough reishi on Earth.

The diviner finally had enough when the white robe started charging an actual energy blast and not just firing off quick shots that she wrapped his arm in reishi and simply jerked the dam thing off.  It was a very expert technique known to only a few Quincy, she had just began applying it different than most.  She had to, if she tried to win by normal methods nothing would ever work for her.  Janus was a unique, and confusing all in one neat little package.

The moment the broken mask's arm vanished it opened a portal, and ran away, making the world go quiet again, mainly because of the death it had left behind.  Janus put her gear away and then rolled her shoulders before walking away, annoyed that once again her world had been impeded on.  It was an annoying thought, that these things believed they could do what they wanted.  Which was probably as infuriating to Janus as trying to keep them from killing people for little to no reason.  She would have rather just got along with everyone, she was a hero, and that's what heroes did.
